  • Berwickshire High School

  • Selkirk High School

  • Galashiels Academy

  • Earlston High School

  • Eyemouth High School

  • Hawick High School

  • Jedburgh Grammar Campus

  • Kelso High School

  • Peebles High School

  • Scottish Borders College (Tweedbank, Galashiels, and Newton St Boswells campuses)

As the programme establishes itself across the region, local adults are needed to step forward as volunteer mentors, alongside partners and businesses.

MCR Pathways is coming to the Scottish Borders!

Delivered in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, Developing the Young Workforce Borders and Skills Development Scotland, the programme will span secondary schools and further education campuses across the region from January 2027.

By matching young people with dedicated trusted adult volunteer mentors, MCR Pathways aims to build confidence, unlock potential and create lasting support networks.

Mentoring isn’t just about school or career advice. It’s about building confidence, resilience and ambition — and helping a young person feel heard, valued and believed in.

Whether you want to give just one hour a week to change a young person’s future as a volunteer mentor, or explore ways your organisation can get involved as a partner, they need our help to build a community of support.

If you’ve ever thought about giving something back to your community, I’d encourage you to consider becoming a volunteer mentor with MCR Pathways.

One hour a week. One young person. A world of possibility.

Hi [Name],

I hope you’re doing well!

I wanted to share some exciting news: MCR Pathways is coming to the Scottish Borders! Delivered in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, Developing the Young Workforce Borders and Skills Development Scotland, the programme will launch across local secondary schools and Scottish Borders College campuses from January 2027.

As a supporter of MCR Pathways, I know you would be great as a volunteer mentor.

By matching young people with dedicated trusted adult volunteer mentors, the programme aims to build confidence, unlock potential, and create lasting support networks.

Mentoring isn’t just about school or career advice; it’s about helping a young person feel heard, valued, and believed in as they navigate the transition to college, university, training, or employment.

You don’t need previous mentoring experience—full training, resources, and ongoing support are provided. All you need is the time and commitment to give one hour a week.

Until everyone has someone.
