MCR Pathways awarded silver Investors in People accreditation as it evolves to deliver its new strategic vision

7 September 2026

MCR Pathways has received Silver Investors in People (IIP) accreditation. The award marks a significant milestone as the charity continues to evolve to deliver its strategic vision.

MCR Pathways has a strong sense of purpose, committed people, and a positive culture. As its ambition and scale have grown across the UK, the organisation has deliberately evolved its leadership, people practices, and ways of working to strengthen the internal engine powering its strategic goals.

The IIP Silver accreditation provides independent recognition of this progress and the charity’s journey towards realising its full potential: showcasing how MCR Pathways develops its people, strengthens its practice, and creates the conditions for colleagues to make a valued contribution.

This journey began two years ago when MCR Pathways undertook a comprehensive review and realignment process – a significant step forward in its evolution. Since then, the charity has strengthened its terms and conditions, co-created a new three-year strategy with its team, and ensured roles and capabilities directly align with its strategic aims.

The accreditation recognises that as MCR Pathways’ ambition grows, developing practice, purpose, and people is essential to delivering its vision, ultimately enabling the charity to support more young people across the UK through the power of mentoring.

Reflecting on what’s been achieved, Lynne McKenzie-Juetten, MCR Pathways’ People Director said: “Earning Silver status is fantastic validation of the culture we’ve built together. It’s been a real journey over the last couple of years, and this recognition belongs to every single person in our team whose daily dedication makes our workplace better.”

Evaluated against IIP’s Progress-Based Maturity Model through an organisation-wide survey and one-to-one interviews, MCR Pathways achieved a standard reached by only 15% to 22% of assessed organisations globally across a framework of 76 requirements.

What particularly stood out to IIP was the compelling connection staff feel toward MCR Pathways’ purpose and social impact: 97% believe the organisation has a positive impact on society, 93% share its values, and 90% feel their own behavior reflects those values.

IIP also highlighted a supportive, caring, and collaborative culture, alongside approachable leaders who offer colleagues the flexibility and autonomy to make their roles their own.

These findings were echoed in comments from staff who participated in the assessment: “It is a very supportive culture and one in which I feel I can approach anybody at all, including senior leaders, without fear of feeling silly. I have been encouraged and supported to grow and shape my role in my own way, while having the support to do that.”

“I have never worked anywhere and felt as heard and supported as I do here. To get the sense that colleagues across all levels genuinely take an interest in my suggestions, and look out for me with care and compassion, helps motivate me and makes me want to contribute more.”

Importantly, the assessment highlighted an organisation committed to continuous development, where staff actively participate in defining what comes next. This collaborative spirit is central to MCR Pathways’ latest three-year strategic direction, built on the insight, experience, and ideas of its team.

With strengthened foundations, MCR Pathways is now focused on making a ‘trusted adult guarantee’ a reality through its Bridge the Gap 2025–2028 Strategy, which was launched late last year.

Through this plan, greater numbers of young people will be supported in schools, further education, and community spaces to overcome unique barriers and progress into positive destinations, including further education, apprenticeships, and employment.

In closing, Sharon McIntyre, MCR Pathways CEO, said: “Our ambition has always been to ensure that every young person who could benefit from a trusted adult mentor can access one on their path to a positive future.

“As we grow our reach across the UK, we recognise that realising that ambition means continually evolving as an organisation. That means investing in our people, strengthening how we work together and creating an environment where everyone can make their best contribution.

“Our Silver Investors in People accreditation is an important recognition of the progress we have made together, but it is also part of a much bigger journey. I want to thank everyone across MCR Pathways and our partners for the commitment, ideas and energy they bring to that journey every day.

“Together, we are building the foundations to deliver our vision and, most importantly, enable more young people to realise their potential through the power of mentoring.”
