MCR Pathways is preparing to launch its award-winning mentoring programme across the Scottish Borders for the very first time. Delivered in partnership with Scottish Borders Council, DYW Borders, and Skills Development Scotland, our mission is to ensure no young person is held back by their circumstances, helping them overcome unique challenges, recognise their strengths, and realise their full potential.

From January 2027, the programme will roll out across all 9 secondary schools in the region (Berwickshire, Selkirk, Galashiels, Earlston, Eyemouth, Hawick, Jedburgh, Kelso, and Peebles) as well as the Borders College campuses in Tweedbank, Galashiels, and Newton St Boswells.

To make this possible, we are looking for volunteers from all walks of life to give just one hour a week during term time.

• No special qualifications needed: Full training and ongoing support are provided. Being a consistent, encouraging presence is what matters most.
