Clackmannanshire Mentor Information Sessions Running Later This Month

What’s Stopping You from Becoming a Volunteer Mentor in Clackmannanshire?

Have you ever had someone believe in your potential when you didn’t? For many young people, that one person can change everything.

That’s why MCR Pathways is committed to ensuring every young person in Clackmannanshire, who has had the most unfair start in life, has someone to help them find their way, through the power of mentoring, in partnership with Clackmannanshire Council.

We are a national award-winning charity, looking for volunteer mentors, from all walks of life, to dedicate just one hour a week in Alloa, Alva or Lornshill Academy. No prior experience of mentoring is needed; simply a passion for building confidence, instilling self-belief, awakening ambition and much more.

Mentors offer invaluable support, providing guidance, advice, and a listening ear.

Last year, a total of 2,259 volunteering hours were delivered by our mentors in supporting 193 young people from care-experienced and wider challenging backgrounds in the region.

Not only does mentoring build confidence and resilience, but research has shown that care-experienced young people who do not receive our mentorship support are 23% less likely to progress to college, university or employment compared to those who do.

Our latest end of year survey for care experienced young people evidenced that 95% of respondents said a mentor was a good role model, 85% said mentoring helped instill self-belief and 83% said it both improved their confidence and helped them understand their talents and strengths.

As mentioned earlier, no prior experience of mentoring is necessary, and we will provide all the training and support needed to help a young person to realise their potential and thrive.

How does all that sound? Join one of our upcoming virtual information sessions on Wednesday 28 May (12:30pm-1:00pm) and Thursday 29 May (4:00pm-4:30pm) to meet some of our incredible mentors and ask any questions you may have.

Every hour dedicated to mentoring helps transform a life in your community. Are you ready to make a difference to young people in Clackmannanshire?
