Young People Set For Grand Kelvingrove Unveiling

Our young people are making their final preparations! They’re getting ready to welcome mentors, partners and supporters to an incredible evening at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on 24th October.

MCR’s youngsters will host and perform throughout the evening. Young people who participated in the MCR’s Royal Conservatoire of Scotland summer programme will be showcasing inspiring creative performances. It will surely be a magical evening as all their hard work finally comes together.

Kelvingrove Unveilling

Undoubtedly the center of the evening will be the unveiling of a fab new art piece. A group of YGT young people with visual art talent have been hard at work with renowned Scottish artist Gerard M. Burns. Gerard, an undeniable supporter of MCR, has taken our youngsters through the artistic process in creating a painting. They’ve worked together to create the artwork, the theme of which is relationships. It complements the style of the “Bridge to the Future” piece unveiled last October at the Kelvingrove. However, this work focuses more on the vital role of MCR’s mentors and especially represents our young people’s creative response to the impact that mentors have on their lives.

Mentor with MCR – Change a Young Life

Additionally, our expansion into all 30 Glasgow secondaries means we have many more inspiring young people asking for MCR’s help. They need mentors to make a huge difference to their confidence, educational outcomes and future life chances. Find out more about becoming a mentor.

Can your organisation help? To become involved in our Talent Taster programme, alongside our partners, simply GET INVOLVED!! We can’t wait to work with you to offer our young people tasters of university, college and employment.

We’re always looking for new mentors to reach all the new young people who are coming on board with the programme. Help us spread the word by letting your friends and family know how worthwhile mentoring can be!
