Our new strategy, Bridge the Gap, sets out how we’ll reach more young people than ever before — expanding mentoring to every community, deepening impact,connection and strengthening the foundations that make lasting change possible.

The prospect of a test on the horizon or doing something completely new can make most people feel very nervous. For Nathan, it was holding him back from reaching his potential and broadening his horizons. Nathan truly began to believe in himself when he met his mentor, Howard.
Talking about personal things isn’t easy. Especially when it feels like things are chaotic behind the scenes. For Aaron, it was a massive weight on his shoulders that made pursuing his path that much more difficult. Aaron started to open up when he met his mentor, Phil.
Sometimes it takes just one person to help get things back on track. For Phoebe, her lack of confidence, missing classes, and being “one of the naughtier kids” was holding her back from seeing her future differently. Phoebe started to get things back on track when she met her mentor, Becca.

Our priority is to build a community where everyone feels seen, supported and inspired — a network of human connections that grows stronger with every story shared.
Strengthen our foundations that support everything we do. Our priority is to foster innovation, inclusivity and evidence-driven action. By spending with purpose and aligning every resource to impact, we’ll build a stronger, more adaptable MCR ready for the future.
Amplifying our collective voice. Our priority is to harness collective influence — ensuring mentoring is recognised as essential in tackling inequality, unlocking opportunity and creating space for young voices to drive real system change.
As a firefighter, Phil knows that communication is just as vital as courage in the face of danger. Phil understood that what Aaron needed most was space, time, and encouragement to embrace his bravery in finding his voice.
As a former Royal Marine, Howard thrived in challenging situations. Connecting through a shared passion for the Armed Forces, his mission was to help Nathan shift his mindset.
Having experienced a life-changing accident, Becca understands how quickly everything can change. Becca recognised it was time to help Phoebe reframe her view of the future will look like.
Success means every young person who needs a mentor has one.

Our plan includes clear measures of success — from wellbeing and attainment to the growth of mentoring networks and stronger collaboration — ensuring every connection counts.
Support an additional 2000 young people into mentored relationships across the UK.
Achieve an annual mentor and partner retention rate of 75% or higher ensuring consistent support for young people.
90% of key decisions are shaped by the voices of young people and mentors – creating a movement t where shared insight drives lasting change.
