Passionate MCR Pathways Mentor, and Scottish comedian Gary Little passes away.

MCR Pathways is deeply saddened to hear of mentor Gary Little’s passing, and expresses its sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

Gary was a passionate, committed, and dedicated mentor. Over three years, he mentored three young people at Whitehill and All Saints Secondary Schools in Glasgow. Originally from Springburn in the north of the city, Gary was driven by a deep connection to his community. He was inspired to support local young people to be the best they can be.

Sharon McIntyre, Chief Executive Officer at MCR Pathways said: “Gary gave his time, heart, and humour to support young people in his local community, inspiring them to believe in themselves and their potential. His kindness, passion, and unwavering commitment will leave a lasting mark on everyone he met. He will be profoundly missed.  His impact is his legacy and that will live on in the many young lives he helped shape and, indeed, transform through the power of mentoring.”

Described as one of Scotland’s finest comedians, Gary rose to prominence on the Scottish comedy circuit in the early 2000s.

He first gained recognition as a finalist in a stand-up competition hosted by The Stand Comedy Club, and went on to perform regularly at both the Glasgow International Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Tributes have poured in on social media from comedy clubs and comedians alike.

The Stand comedy club said: “We here at The Stand are utterly devastated to hear the news of the passing of big Gary Little. An incredible comic, huge personality and friend to many.

The Glee Club Glasgow added: “Gary wasn’t just one of Scotland’s finest comedians, he was a true original. He had a huge heart, a razor sharp sense of humour, and a knack for making you feel like you’d known him forever.”

Jo Caufield said: “What terribly sad news. Gary Little was a great comic and an amazing person to spend time with. We are all poorer for losing you Gary. I will truly miss seeing you backstage and never hearing that big mischievous laugh.”

Going the extra mile in raising awareness of MCR Pathways and championing the power of mentoring, Gary stated in a recent campaign that “No matter your background, you have experiences that might help a young person.”

We express our sincere gratitude for all that Gary brought to his mentoring, and in encouraging others to transform young lives within his local community.
