Become a volunteer mentor during National Mentoring Month
20 January 2026
Make a life-changing difference to a young person’s future by giving just one hour a week in your local community.
Volunteering as a mentor is a rewarding experience that has a lasting impact. MCR Pathways is a national mentoring charity supporting young people to build confidence, overcome challenges and re-imagine futures.
We need more volunteer mentors in Glasgow, South Lanarkshire, East Renfrewshire, Edinburgh, West Lothian, The Highlands and Clackmannanshire.
If you can offer one hour a week, bring kindness, compassion and a solution-focused approach, we’d love to hear from you.

Phil's mentor story
As a firefighter, Phil knows that communication is just as vital as courage in the face of danger.
Connecting through their shared love of sport and similar backgrounds, Phil understood that what Aaron needed most was space, time, and encouragement to embrace his bravery in finding his voice to begin to lift the weight off his shoulders.
Could you join inspirational mentors like Phil in helping a young people to ignite their vital spark?
Become a Mentor
Mentoring matters
Last year alone, MCR Pathways mentors supported over 5,390 young people across Scotland. Through these consistent, trusted adult relationships, young people grew in confidence, fuelled ambition, believed in themselves and achieved.
The impact speaks for itself
The benefits of mentoring are clear according the our latest young person survey:
- 99% said their mentor was a great role model
- 96% said mentoring improved their confidence
- 95% said mentoring helped them with goal setting.
These relationships don’t just support young people at school — they open pathways to brighter futures beyond it. Whether that means college, university, an apprenticeship or getting started in the world of work.
Let's talk through the process
