Introduction
At MCR Pathways, we are committed to the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and social responsibility. As a charity dedicated to supporting young people and ensuring they have the best possible future, we recognise our role in protecting the vulnerable. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in all its forms. Although MCR Pathways does not fall under the statutory requirements of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 based on turnover, we have chosen to publish this voluntary statement to demonstrate our commitment to transparency and ethical practice within our operations and supply chains.
Our Organisation
MCR Pathways is a national award-winning mentoring organisation. Our vision is to work until every young person has someone to help them find their way, ensuring that this journey is about equity, belonging and justice. Our mission is to connect every young person with a trusted adult mentor who sparks confidence, fuels ambition, and walks beside them. We operate across Scotland and England, working in partnership with local authorities, schools, and a vast network of volunteer mentors and partners to ensure that care experienced and disadvantaged young people have the same life chance as everyone else Our Commitment We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chains or in any part of our business. Our commitment is underpinned by our core values of relationship-focused support, integrity, and empowerment.
Our Supply Chains
Given the nature of our work, we consider our supply chains to be low risk. Our procurement primarily relates to:
- Professional services (e.g., recruitment, training, and legal).
- Office supplies and technology equipment.
- Marketing and communication services.
- Facilities management at our office locations.
We expect all of our contractors, suppliers, and partners to share our high standards. We are committed to ensuring that our partners operate ethically and in compliance with all relevant labor laws.
Policies and Procedures
We maintain a robust framework of policies to ensure we act ethically and with integrity:
- Safeguarding Policy: This is at the heart of everything we do. Our procedures are designed to protect young people and identify risks of exploitation.
- Whistleblowing Policy: We encourage all employees, volunteers, and partners to report any concerns related to unethical conduct, including any suspicions of modern slavery, without fear of retaliation.
- Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB): We are dedicated to building an inclusive and anti-racist organisation where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
- Recruitment Policy: We conduct thorough “Right to Work” checks and follow robust vetting procedures for all staff and volunteers (including PVG/DBS checks) to prevent exploitation and ensure no individuals are subject to forced labor or human trafficking.
Training and Awareness
To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we provide relevant guidance to our staff. Safeguarding training is mandatory for all employees and mentors, which includes identifying signs of abuse and exploitation. Future Commitment We will continue to review our policies and supplier relationships to ensure our practices remain effective in identifying and preventing any form of modern slavery. This statement reflects our ongoing commitment to social justice and the protection of human rights.
