Meet MCR’s Amazing Mentors!

“At our third meeting, there was a light bulb moment. I realised my young person was more relaxed and opened up about his own life. I didn’t say a lot. I just listened, and that was obviously what he needed on that day”

MCR Pathways is completely dedicated and motivated to ensuring every single care experienced and disadvantaged young person is afforded the same educational opportunities and support as their peers.

#HelpingHands is the our latest campaign. As we share the incredible stories of our volunteer mentors, young people and partners, we want to inspire 1000 more Glaswegians to get involved. To offer your helping hand!

The only qualification you need is to want to help a young person. To offer a listening, supportive ear. MCR will provide everything else that young person needs. There are 1356 young Glaswegians who will benefit phenomenally by someone simply being there for them.

Meet Barbie. Barbie made an incredible commitment over the summer. To offer a helping hand and support a Young Glasgow Talent by MCR Pathways young person. To commit one hour, every week, to support her young person through their S3 and S4 secondary school years.

With her encouragement, her young person will see opportunities open up for a brighter future.

Barbie has been given outstanding support from her employer, Glasgow Kelvin College, as she makes this incredible difference to an extremely deserving young person.

Hear her story. Learn about her experiences as a mentor so far; what she puts into the relationship, as well as everything she takes from this opportunity as well.

We have so many more inspiring young people signing up for MCR Pathway’s help and to become part of Young Glasgow Talent. They need mentors like Barbie to make a huge difference to their confidence, educational outcomes and future life chances. Can you help them? Find out more about becoming a mentor.

Can your organisation help? To become involved in our Talent Taster programme, alongside our partners such as City Building, The Herald and Wheatley Group, get involved.

Help us spread the word by letting your friends and family know how hugely rewarding mentoring can be!
