We are delighted to have received a Highly Commended Award at this year’s Fife Business Awards which took place on Friday 16 May.
Over 200 guests gathered at the Old Course Hotel, St Andrews on a blissful, early summer’s evening to recognise the drive, resilience, passion and innovation that makes the Fife business community thrive and flourish.
The award recognised all that we have achieved, through our partnership with NHS Fife, over its initial year of operations.
The partnership has significantly enhanced volunteer mentor numbers within the organisation, who have been supported by MCR Pathways to help young people, who’ve had the most unfair start in life to find their path to a brighter future, through the power of mentoring in secondary schools.
Not only focused on building confidence, instilling self-belief and awakening ambition through the power of mentorship, the partnership is working hard behind the scenes to deliver initiatives encouraging young people across the region to consider pursuing careers in NHS Fife.

MCR Partnership Lead, Susan Busglass, was joined by colleagues and representatives from NHS Fife to receive the award on the evening, who said:
“It was a fantastic evening, seeing so many incredible organisations recognised and celebrated for their work across Fife. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists.
“Huge thanks to team MCR Pathways but also to NHS Fife as their commitment to our partnership and its impact was very much recognised via this award. This award means so much as we work tirelessly to support young people across Fife and beyond. We won’t stop until every young person has someone to help them find their way.”

Josh Morris, MCR Pathways Partnership and Recruitment Manager, attended the event alongside Susan (both pictured above), who reflects on what’s been achieved through the partnership:
“Overall, this partnership has proved hugely beneficial for our charity and programme as we have seen a steady increase in volunteer numbers, which has a direct impact on the support of young people who need us most. The aim is to continue to build and to be able to support more young people into careers and modern apprenticeships within NHS Fife, whilst continuing to build our army of NHS Fife volunteer mentors for our young people! This recognition is evidence of the great work that has already been achieved.”
MCR Pathways launched its schools-based mentorship programme in Fife in January 2022, which has supported over 400 young people through S1-S2 group work and one-to-one mentorship sessions for S3-S6. Since the launch of services in the region, 550 mentors have dedicated over 8155 volunteer hours in Viewforth, St Andrews, Lochgelly and Glenwood High Schools.
