MCR Pathways is a finalist in the ‘Charity Partner of The Year’ category, of the Fife Business Awards 2025, for its partnership work with NHS Fife.
The partnership has enhanced volunteer mentor numbers within the organisation, supported by MCR Pathways to help young people, who’ve had the most unfair start in life to find their path to a brighter future, through the power of mentoring.
Not only focused on building confidence, instilling self-belief and awakening ambition through mentorship, the partnership is working hard behind the scenes to deliver initiatives encouraging young people to consider pursuing careers in NHS Fife.
MCR Pathways launched its schools-based mentorship programme in Fife in January 2022, supporting over 400 young people through S1-S2 group work and one-to-one mentorship sessions for S3-S6. Since the launch of services in the region, 550 mentors have dedicated over 8155 volunteer hours in Viewforth, St Andrews, Lochgelly and Glenwood High Schools.
To continue to grow across the region, MCR Pathways is committed to developing further partnerships with local businesses and corporate parents to ensure young people, from care experienced and wider challenging backgrounds, have someone to help them find a path to realising their potential and thrive.

Reflecting on what’s been achieved and where the partnership could go next, Josh Morris, Partnerships and Mentor Recruitment Manager for MCR Pathways, said:
“It is fantastic for us to be shortlisted for this award. Our partnership with NHS Fife is still in its infancy, but has achieved lots already and supported young people across Fife. The aim is to continue to build and to be able to support more young people into careers and modern apprenticeships within NHS Fife, whilst continuing to build our army of NHS Fife volunteer mentors for our young people! This recognition is evidence of the great work that has already been achieved.”
Members from our partnership and senior leadership teams will be joined by representatives from NHS Fife at this year’s event, held at the Old Course Hotel, St Andrews on Friday 16 May.
The annual event honours the achievement of Fife’s finest businesses and individuals celebrating innovative enterprise at all levels, commitments to sustainability and net zero, training and development, apprenticeships, tourism, hospitality and much more.
MCR Pathways’ fellow finalists in the ‘Charity Partner of the Year’ category are Fife Sports and Leisure Trust and Fife Employment Access Trust.
