Glasgow’s Young People Benefit From #HelpingHands

#HelpingHands is the latest campaign by Young Glasgow Talent. As we aim to inspire 1000 more Glaswegians to support our city’s most deserving young people.

Over the next month, we’ll share incredible stories of the resilient young people, motivated mentors and committed organisations that make Glasgow. Who hold out their #HelpingHands. Who go above and beyond for those in our city that desperately need support. Who are encouraging YOU to join them!

Can You Offer a helping hand?

Today, we’re delighted to introduce an amazing artwork by our young people. They typify the motivation, commitment and resilience of YGT. They continue to inspire our city. Each of these young people go above and beyond. As YGT Ambassadors, they are a voice for their peers. Ensuring the next generation know about YGT. As the programme grows to support even more young people.

This piece shows the incredible impact having a mentor makes. Our young people show how they felt before and after meeting their mentor. Having someone who is there consistently for them. Listens to them. Believes in them. Encourages them. It makes a life-changing difference.

There are many more young people like our Ambassadors who are asking for YGT’s support. 1000 Glaswegians are needed to offer their #HelpingHands. To be a mentor to truly inspiring young people. In addition, companies (small, medium and large) are being encouraged on board. To join our partners including The Herald, Wheatley Group and Marshall Brown Window Manufacturers, who offer much support. Who open the doors of their offices, studios, manufacturing units and stadiums. Exploring their industry with our young people in an exciting way. Sparking aspirations!

“When you are older, we won’t forget what you have done for us. My generation will hold out a hand to you, we will be a listening ear and we will take care of you”.

We can’t wait to share more incredible #HelpingHands stories. To showcase our phenomenal volunteer mentors. Who choose to go above and beyond for our city and who make a life-changing difference. Mentors support inspiring young people. Who face challenges and circumstances that can be very different from our own lives.

We would also love for you to get involved! Like the images below, we would love to see a picture of your helping hands! With a message that sums up why you support our city’s most deserving young people getting the help they desperately need.
