Glasgow Businesses Offer Their #HelpingHands to YGT

#HelpingHands is the latest campaign by Young Glasgow Talent. As we aim to inspire 1000 more Glaswegians, and more organisations, to support our city’s most deserving young people.

Throughout our December campaign, we’ll share incredible stories of the resilient young people, motivated mentors and committed organisations that make Glasgow. Who hold out their #HelpingHands. Who go above and beyond for those in our city that desperately need support. Who are encouraging you to join them!

Can You Offer a Helping Hand?

As well as an incredible community of mentors, there are organisations from right across the city who support Young Glasgow Talent and our young people. Including The Herald, University of Strathclyde and the SECC.

Every type of organisation is required. Small businesses, such as Marshall Brown Window Manufacturers and The Loft are just as vital in bringing life-changing experiences to our young people.

Showing why they offer a helping hand to Glasgow’s young people, today we’re delighted to introduce phenomenal YGT partners.

Wheatley Group have supported YGT for almost two years now. As well as encouraging staff to become mentors, they deliver Talent Taster experiences. Opening their doors. Offering our young people the opportunity to explore industries of interest. Inspired by their dedicated workforce, aspirations are sparked. Our young people return to school having discovered a pathway they want to work so hard towards.

In the video below, Wheatley Group also talk about the benefits they’ve experienced as an organisation in offering YGT their #HelpingHands.

The Loft, a digital design agency based in Glasgow, have been incredible supporters of Young Glasgow Talent. Run by entrepreneur Benedetto Bordone, the inspiring company recently opened the world of Design and Web Design to some incredibly creative young people.

Here’s why Benedetto and his team go above and beyond for our city’s young people. Not only that, he emphasises the benefits to his organisation of getting involved!

When it comes to ‘Young Glasgow Talent by MCR Pathways,’ and The Loft – it really is any opportunity to help. In our 4+ years as a company, we have supported many third-sector organisations and we always take great pride in doing so, but we feel a special connection with ‘Young Glasgow Talent.’ As creatives, ‘inspiration’ is quite possibly the most important resource we have to work with. We seek it in huge quantities every single day. It informs everything we do. Nobody understands the importance of inspiration more than us at The Loft. As people, we believe there is an even greater need to be positively inspired and the approach taken by YGT to help inspire a generation of young people to be the best they can be definitely resonates with our company and our ideas.

Just a couple of months ago, we held the first YGT ‘Talent Taster’ in our Glasgow studio for 4 students and the experience was absolutely brilliant. We probably got more out of it than the students. Seeing young people’s eyes light up to their own potential and possibilities in the space of a morning is an incredibly fulfilling experience. One that was shared by the whole team, it has helped us to grow as a group and also as individuals. We can’t wait for the next one.

We also jumped at the opportunity to do something creative for YGT’s #HelpingHands. We know that the organisation needs more mentors so we thought we’d play with the old adage – ‘Many hands make light work.’ The hands on the image are all of those of our team and it was great fun putting it together. As the image says, we can’t recommend YGT enough. Our company provides creative support, we are taking part in the talent taster programme and we’ll eventually get to mentoring.

So as the image says…

Give us a #HelpingHand!

Huge thanks to all our partners, especially to Wheatley Group and The Loft, for their latest #HelpingHands support. So many people and organisations are doing so much to transform the life-chances of our young people!

We can’t wait to share more incredible #HelpingHands stories. To showcase our phenomenal volunteer mentors, our committed partners, and our hugely inspiring young people.
