Council Encourages Staff to Mentor City’s Disadvantaged Young People

“Mentoring has also had a positive impact on me. It’s giving me a new outlook and adding a new dimension to my working week. It’s really rewarding to know that I’m helping my young person to do well both at school and in her personal life” Victoria, MCR Mentor

MCR Pathways Pioneering Partners, Glasgow City Council, are supporting 10% of their staff to mentor.

It’s an amazing commitment, which will see so many of our city’s care experienced young people get the support they need and deserve. To ensure a better future for themselves. To ensure that they get the same educational outcomes, career opportunities and life chances as any other young person.

GCC supports fantastic staff like Victoria, Policy Officer in the Council Chief Executive’s Department, to mentor. Victoria talks about the benefits that she and her organisation gets from her time spent mentoring, as well as the benefits to her young person.

Can your organisation help? To become involved in our Talent Taster programme, alongside our partners, simply GET INVOLVED!! We can’t wait to work with you to offer our city’s most needy a gateway to an expanding menu of opportunities and tasters of university, college and employment.

We’re always looking for new mentors to reach all the new young people who are coming on board with the programme. Help us spread the word by letting your friends and family know how worthwhile mentoring can be!
