Can you #BeTheBridge in 2020?

For more than a decade, MCR Pathways and our mentors have been helping care-experienced and disadvantaged young people overcome life’s challenges through education. By meeting with their young person for just an hour each week, our mentors are the bridge between young people’s talents and all the wonderful possibilities available to them in adulthood.

We hope to make 2020 another record-breaking year in Scotland, continuing to work with partners and mentors to grow our community of committed volunteers and reach every young person. Together we can:

#BeTheBridge for young people to discover their talents and build aspirations

#BeTheBridge to create a positive change in our communities

#BeTheBridge for staff to build new skills, give back and boost mental health

By being there, listening, and encouraging, mentors are empowering young people to engage in education, find their passions and make their mark.

Across the country, our mentors are transforming education outcomes and life chances. In schools before mentoring, only 48% of care-experienced pupils left school to a positive destination while last year 86% of MCR mentored young people did. But there’s still work to be done. We won’t stop until every young person in Scotland is supported to find, grow and use their amazing talent to create a bright future.

This year we’re going to be growing our mentoring community into new schools in Aberdeen, North Ayrshire and Edinburgh, while also expanding into the Shetland Islands and Clackmannanshire. We’ll also be playing a role in policy development and launching new tools to better support our mentors and young people.

#BeTheBridge between Potential and Possibilities

We’re excited to have you with us on this journey, but we’ve just got one thing to ask. Can you share this post & MCR with your friends, colleagues and neighbours & ask them to #BeTheBridge in 2020? Help us grow our community and move one step closer to a world where all young people are defined by their talents, and never their circumstances.
