Yesterday was a big milestone for us with The Herald and Evening Times announcing that MCR Pathways and Glasgow City Council have signed one of the country’s biggest Public and Social Partnership (PSP) Agreements. This is phenomenal news for MCR Pathways and our Young Glasgow Talent programme. The news marks the achievement of a long held MCR objective of bringing mentoring and talent tasters to the core of the education system. It now gives us the opportunity to help raise the attainment, aspirations and positive destinations of thousands of Glasgow’s young people, disadvantaged through no fault of their own.

The new PSP will build on the partnership that Glasgow City Council has developed with the MCR Pathways charity over the last few years. It has now been extended to include The Robertson Trust, STV Children’s Appeal and the Life Changes Trust.
The life changing MCR Pathways mentoring programme will be rolled out to all 30 schools over the next three years. After this time the Education Authority will take on the programme with mentoring for care experienced young people across Glasgow becoming the norm. A transformative moment for the future generations of young people who will be defined by their talent and potential and not their circumstances or postcode.

Frank continues: “The mentoring project is making an incredible difference to the lives of some of our most disadvantaged young people. In conjunction with other council initiatives, it is helping to close the attainment gap in Glasgow and tackle some of our well documented social challenges.”
We have many more young people signing up for Young Glasgow Talent’s help. They need mentors to make a huge difference to their confidence, educational outcomes and future life chances.
